چکیده

The study reported the molecular characterization, antibiotic susceptibility profile and nature of resistance genes in multiple resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from selected hospital fomites hands health care workers Ondo, Nigeria. Various were swabbed for detection aeruginosa. Each sample was cultured separately on MacConkey Centrimide agar plates incubated 18-24h at 37oC. Pure isolates obtained using Analytical Profile Index (API) 20E kit. Kirby Bauer’s disc diffusion technique used to decide pure known antibiotics. Resistant 3 or more antibiotics determined by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) appropriate primers. Two hundred Gram-negative bacterial recovered 480 swab-stick samples analyzed out which 54 aeruginosa.  All P. showed total augmentin, cefixime cefuroxime meanwhile 30 nitrofuratoin, gentamycin 11, ceftazidime 7, ofloxacin 2 ciprofloxacin 1. 31 (57.4%) three classes antibiotics.  Out 12 representative isolates, 6 harboured blaCTX-M (585 bp) gene not susceptible beta lactam while 4 7 Aminoglycoside (gentamycin) aac-3-iv (286 gene. In conclusion, different might be possible sources nosocomial infections.   Key words: aeruginosa, antibiotic-resistance, workers,

Molecular detection of Integron genes and pattern of antibiotic resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains isolated from intensive care unit, Shahid Beheshti Hospital, North of Iran

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the most important pathogens that causes nosocomial infections and shows high level of antibiotic resistance. Integrons are one of the transposable elements in bacteria and their role in antibiotic resistance has been well demonstrated. The aim of this study was a molecular characterization of the integron genes and the determination of the resistance or sensiti...

Antibiotic Susceptibility of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Isolated from Cystic Fibrosis Patients

Abstract Background and Objective: Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an autosomal recessive genetic disease and Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the most common bacteria colonized in CF patients. Growing resistance of this bacterium to antibiotics now a day is a challenge of controlling infection in CF patient. In this study colonization of CF patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa and antibiotic suscep...

Synergistic Effect of Probiotic Bacteria and Antibiotics on Antibiotic-resistant Strains of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Isolated from Patients with Burn Wounds

Background: Burn infections are one of the leading causes of death in the world. Antibiotic resistance is a major concern among the medical community. In this study, we investigated the effect of common probiotic strains on multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains. Methods: Strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa from burn wounds of patients were isolated. Then pathogens were biochemically ...

Molecular epidemiology of colistin-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa producing NDM-1 from hospitalized patients in Iran

Objective(s): Resistance to carbapenems is the principal reason for the continuing utilization of colistin as a last resort choice for treating the infections resulted from multidrug carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa (CRPA) isolates. The assessment of antimicrobial resistance pattern, the prevalence of carbapenem-resistance determinants, and molecular epidemiology of colistin-resistan...
